Product description Neptune Container Seal

The Neptune Container Seal is a simple container seal. The container seal has a specially designed anti-spin system in the form of metal fins. Each bolt seal is printed “SEALED” and has a one-off number. Despite its minimalist design, the Neptune has ISO17712:2013 certification. This certification makes the seal suitable for export to countries around the world.

Straightforward container seal with steel pin and yellow plastic housing

The Neptune Container Seal consists of two parts: a steel pin and a metal bushing. The bushing has a yellow plastic casing. The steel pin has a diameter of 8 mm. When sealing, both parts snap together. When the seal is closed, opening is no longer possible. The breaking strength of the Neptune Container Seal is 1.000 kg.

Unlike the Barrier Container Seal and the Klicker 2K Container Bolt Seal, the Neptune Container Seal does not have an ABS plastic layer around the steel pin. This exposes the metal to seawater, among other things, and increases the risk of corrosion. This hinders reading on arrival in some cases.

Another possible risk is the space between the steel pin and the bushing. Every extra millimetre of space increases the risk of fraud in a container seal. To reduce this risk, our advice is to apply the seal with the bushing facing upwards (see photo). This makes it more difficult for liquid or tools to reach the critical part.

Suitable for export: ISO 177712:2013 certified

Thanks to the seal’s straightforward thoughtful design, the Neptune Container Seal has been awarded ISO 17712:2013 certification. The seal has been tested by an external independent testing agency. The MIRDC is a leading organisation and certifies many container seals. For example, the Barrier Container Seal and Cable Seal 350 have also been tested and officially certified by this organisation.

The process of certification consists of two parts, namely: certifying the seal and inspecting the production process. Seals are checked for a number of physical properties. First, the seal must bear the manufacturer’s name. Secondly, the seal must have a unique imprint and incremental numbering. Finally, the seal must have the letter “H”, which stands for High Security. This allows you to check immediately whether a seal is officially certified.

The seal must also have a series of properties that prevent fraud. First of all, the seal must have an anti-spin system. Secondly, the seal must have a minimum breaking strength that prevents the seal from being opened by hand. Finally, both ends must be made of steel and have a minimum width. This way, it is not possible to punch a seal through the container lock.

Accepted worldwide by customs authorities, including C-TPAT (USA)

Thanks to its ISO 17712:2013 certification, the Neptune Container Seal is suitable for sealing containers. Customs authorities worldwide only accept containers with an ISO 17712:2013 certified seal. For example, the US customs authority (C-TPAT) only accepts certified container seals. C-TPAT stands for Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism and is a cooperation between neighbouring countries, including Mexico, Canada and the United States.

There is also cooperation in the maritime sector, namely the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code, abbreviated to ISPS. Developed by the International Maritime Organisation, this code aims to prevent terrorism at ships and port facilities. This also requires the use of an ISO 17712:2013 certified container seal.

Metal pin (8 mm) fitted with fins against unspinning/untwisting

There are metal fins on the steel pin. These slide into the two slots in the steel interior of the yellow canister at the time of sealing. It is not possible to rotate the parts in opposite directions. This so-called anti-spin system serves to prevent fraud. Spinning/rotating the seal under high speed is not possible.

Imprint “SEALED” with a one-off unique numbering

The Neptune Container Seal is provided from stock with a unique combination of imprint “SEALED” and numbering. The numbering is lasered onto the pin of the seal. The canister of the seal also features the imprint and the same unique number. These requirements come from the regulations of ISO 17712:2013. Both Navacqs and the manufacturer of the seal ensure that this unique combination is produced only once. Each series is also registered upon delivery/issue.
