The Cobra Container Lock Abloy® PL-358T has the highest achievable KIWA SCM certification, namely the classification “Heavy Duty”. The cylinder of the Abloy® PL-358T padlock is equipped with an extremely secure Protec² system. The Cobra Container Lock is adjustable from 240 mm to 460 mm. For example, the container lock fits on any common container. To guarantee security, keys for the Cobra Container Lock can only be supplied via Navacqs / ASSA Abloy®. The Cobra Container Lock with Abloy® PL-358T is supplied from stock with two identical keys. Each padlock has its unique cylinder. It is also possible to supply locks keyed alike. The cylinders of the locks are adjusted by the manufacturer in order to open several container locks with the same key.

Kiwa SCM Heavy Duty approved Container lock (for transport insurance)

The Cobra Container Lock equipped with Abloy® PL-358T has the highest achievable KIWA SCM certification, namely the classification “Heavy Duty”. Various insurers only require container locks with this specific certification. The lock ensures the most reliable and safe closure of containers and trailers. The container lock has been developed for long-term use and is resistant to extreme weather conditions. To guarantee its long life, it is strongly recommended to clean the Abloy® padlock monthly with a lubricant such as Brunox or WD40. This thoroughly cleans the mechanism internally.

Kiwa SCM certification

Before a container lock receives the certificate, the lock is extensively tested. The tests are carried out by an external independent party, the Dutch KIWA SCM. Since 1993, quality marks have been issued for safety products such as container locks and trailer locks by KIWA SCM. Various interested parties are represented in the Board of Experts, including experts from the security industry, insurance industry and the business community. The locks are inspected based on Inspection regulation MP03.

Rigorous practical testing

The testing is done on the most diverse points. Before a container lock is eligible, many requirements are set in advance. For example, the keys must have a unique key number.

Subsequently, the Cobra Container Lock is subjected to 12 different practice tests. This includes a corrosion test. A dust test and heat test also fall under the practical test. The results are measured and scaled following EU guidelines.

The most extreme tests are carried out. For example, the lock is placed completely moist at -20 degrees Celsius for 2 hours. The lock must then be opened within 60 seconds. A drop test is also part of the test. The lock makes a free fall from 1 meter onto a concrete surface. This is carried out 50x for the loose locks and 5x for the entire product.

Finally, an attack test is done. The Cobra Container Lock with Abloy® PL358T has the certification of Heavy Duty. This means that the lock cannot be opened for at least 300 seconds (5 minutes) with a wide range of tools, except for power tools (if rechargeable). This means that, for example, a grinder with a battery may be used, but not heavy tools with a 230-volt mains power supply. Containers are often located in remote places without a power supply. Hence the tests are also carried out with rechargeable tools.

Including Abloy® PL-358T Protec² padlock with 2 keys

The Cobra Container Lock comes in combination with one of the best and safest padlocks, namely the Abloy® PL-358T. The lock housing of the shackle is specially designed according to PL358T. The padlock fits exactly in the red lock housing. The locking holes in the bracket of the container lock are also specially drilled that the bracket of the PL358T fits through them exactly. This leaves minimal space between the parts. The padlock is encapsulated in the red lock housing and is thus well protected. It is almost impossible to use tools to open the padlock.

The cylinder of the Abloy® PL-358T padlock is equipped with the latest Protec² system. With padlocks equipped with the Protec² system, counterfeiting of keys is not possible without a key certificate. In addition, the Abloy® PL-358T has an extra anti-drilling disc for extra drilling protection. The key also has a rotating ball. This metal ball is moulded into the housing and cannot be removed. This makes counterfeiting the key impossible. Only Abloy® can produce additional keys. A copy of the supplied key card is required to ensure security.

Adjustable bracket (230 mm to 460 mm) fits any common sea container

The Cobra Container Lock with Abloy® PL358T is suitable for locking sea containers and trailers. The design of the container lock consists of two parts, namely a shackle and a lock housing. The placement of the red lock housing is variable thanks to the many locking holes for the padlock. This allows the red lock housing to be moved and the Cobra Container lock adjustable from 240 mm to 460 mm. For example, the container lock fits on any common container.

Key certificate for re-ordering Protec² keys

To guarantee security, keys for the Cobra Container Lock can only be supplied via Navacqs / ASSA Abloy®. The special keys are provided with a Protec² system and cannot be duplicated by a key maker. The unique rotating ball in the key also prevents it from being possible to copy the key with a 3D printer or CNC mill. The key certificate must be presented to order additional keys. The certificate is a card with the key number and patent number. It is therefore very important to keep the key certificate in a safe place. No additional keys can be delivered without a key certificate.

Expandable through alike locks or key plan

The Cobra Container Lock with Abloy® PL-358T is supplied from stock with two identical keys. Each padlock has its specific lock. It is also possible to supply locks with keyed alike. In this case, the cylinders of the locks are adjusted by Abloy®, so that several container locks can be opened with the same key.

Finally, container locks can also be added to a so-called key plan. In this situation, the individual padlocks have their key, with which other padlocks cannot be opened. Only the master key makes it possible to open all padlocks from the specific key plan.
