X-Seal Biodegradable 350 is a multifunctional biodegradable seal. A special additive provides this special property without affecting the plastic’s performance and strength. After all, a seal serves to guarantee security and prevent fraud. Joining is easy thanks to the smooth tail. The stainless steel locking mechanism ensures high breaking strength and extra security. Reuse is impossible. From stock, the eco-friendly X Seal Biodegradable is supplied in the colour pastel green. Each seal features unique printing and one-off numbering. In addition to the standard imprint, the seal is available with a personalised imprint, e.g. with a company name or logo.

Biodegradable polypropylene with special additive

X-Seal Biodegradable is a biodegradable seal and therefore a very environmentally friendly seal. The product is made of polypropylene (PP). To make the seal biodegradable, a special additive is mixed with the PP during the production process. Just a minimal addition makes the seal biodegradable with no effect on the seal’s performance and strength. It, therefore, does not affect the seal’s performance and properties compared to regular polypropylene/polyethene seals.

Degradation in approximately 5 years

The special biodegradable additive enables organisms to completely degrade the chemicals in about five years. Without this additive, it takes many hundreds of years for a plastic seal to be degraded by nature. The degradation process starts when the seal ends up in places where micro-organisms are present. This could be in a landfill, compost heap, ocean or in nature.

No risk of premature degradation

The basis of a seal is to prevent fraud and promote security. When biological seals are still packaged, the degradation process does not just start. Even when the seal is in use on a truck or in-flight catering trolley, for example, the seal fulfils the function of preventing fraud. There is no risk of the degradation being initiated prematurely. Conditions for degradation in nature must be right and the presence of microorganisms is required.

Seal in plastic waste

Despite the unique properties of the X-Seal Biodegradable, when the seal is broken, it must end up in plastic waste. That way, the plastic can still be recycled. But if the seal does end up in nature, it will biodegrade within 5 years.

Extra-strong closure thanks to an integrated stainless steel locking mechanism

The seal features a strong internal closure made of stainless steel (RVS). This material ensures that the seal has high breaking strength and is resistant to extreme weather conditions, such as seawater, rain, UV light and temperatures.

The stainless steel serrations in the seals are shaped at a particular angle, which means the tail of the seal can only move in one direction. Once the seal is sealed, the tail cannot be retracted. This makes opening and reusing this biodegradable seal impossible.

Easy to seal due to the smooth seal tail with a diameter of 2 mm

Sealing the X-Seal Biodegradable is very easy thanks to the smooth seal tail. This is because the tail is easy to thread through openings and will not get stuck/hung up. Thanks to the small diameter of only 2 mm, the seal also fits through small openings.

The total length of the seal is 350 mm. This length includes the flag, the part where the print is placed. The total length of the tail is 300 mm. This is measured from the tip of the seal tail to the sealing mechanism and is considered the usage length. This is the maximum available length in a practical situation.

Seal suitable for sealing e.g. tankers and IBCs

The simple, yet thoughtful design, ensures that this eco-friendly seal can be used for a wide range of applications. For example, the seal is suitable for sealing tankers and IBCs. This is because the seal is easy to place through the tanker’s latches thanks to its smooth seal tail. This also applies to IBCs.

Thanks to its biodegradable material, this seal is extremely suitable for companies, associations and government institutions that have corporate social responsibility (CSR) high on their agenda. Applying this type of seal is one way to make a small contribution to a better environment.

Equipped with a one-off unique print and incremental numbering

Every Navacqs seal is unique and produced only once. The unique feature of a seal consists of a print/name in combination with a unique ascending numbering. Both Navacqs and the manufacturer ensure that no combination is produced twice. This makes fraud virtually impossible.

From stock, the X-Seal Biodegradable 350 is supplied in the colour pastel green and features a standard unique imprint. The imprint is burned in with a laser. This ensures a clear imprint in the colour black. Moreover, it cannot be removed. Thus, the imprint is legible in any situation.

Besides the standard imprint, the seal is available with a personalised imprint. Printing your own logo or company name is then among the options. Other colours are also available.

The standard version of the X-Seal Biodegradable can be removed by hand by pulling the seal. Optionally, the seal can be fitted with tear-away functionality.
