Product description Cable Seal 500

The extremely strong Cable Seal 500 is an ISO certified seal for sealing containers for intercontinental transport. The robust steel wire has a diameter of 5 mm and is therefore suitable for containers with bent or obsolete locks, where regular Bolt Seals do not fit. Fraud or reuse of the Cable Seal 500 is impossible thanks to the unique print and ascending numbering. The steel wire will also fray when it is broken. After that, the steel wire can no longer be pulled through the aluminum housing.

The unique properties of the Cable Seal 500

  • Extra strong steel wire (5 mm) that fray when broken, making reuse impossible
  • Flexible steel wire; suitable for tight openings and bent latches
  • Container seal with the official ISO 17712: 2013 Certificate
  • Approved by customs authorities worldwide, including C-TPAT (USA)
  • Provided with one-off unique imprint and ascending numbering

Flexible steel wire; suitable for tight openings and bent latches

The Cable Seal 500 has a galvanized steel wire with a length of 300 mm. The diameter of the wire is 5.00 mm. With this the container seal fits through the lock on the container door. Older containers may have bent latches, preventing a Bolt Seal from fitting. A Bolt Seal has a diameter of at least 8 mm. The Cable Seal 500 has a diameter of 5.00 mm. For example, the container seal is easy to place through narrow openings without compromising on safety and breaking strength.

Thanks to the extremely high breaking strength of no less than 1,900 kg, the Cable Seal 500 is one of the strongest High Security Seals available. For example, a Bolt Seal such as the Barrier Container Seal has a breaking strength of 1,700 kg and the Cable Seal 350 a breaking strength of 1,250 kg.

Container seal provided with the official ISO 17712: 2013 Certificate

A container seal must bear the ISO 17712: 2013 certificate to be used for container transport worldwide. The Cable Seal 500 has been officially tested and approved by the MIRDC.

The certification process consists of two aspects, namely the inspection of the seal and the control of the production process of the seal. The High Security Seals are checked on a number of aspects. The seal must, among other things, bear the name of the factory. The seal must also be provided with a unique imprint and ascending numbering. Another essential aspect is the letter “H” which stands for High Security. This letter must be clearly visible on the seal.

Furthermore, the seal must be provided with a number of properties to prevent fraud. For example, the seal must have a minimum breaking strength, so the seal cannot be opened by hand. Every component is tested at the MIRDC Research Center.

In addition to certifying the Cable Seal 500, the production process and internal quality controls are also examined. Every container seal must be reliable and meet the strict ISO standards. An ISO17712: 2013 seal is also called a High Security Seal.

Approved by customs authorities worldwide, including C-TPAT (USA)

Container seals with the official ISO are a requirement for international container transport. Customs authorities worldwide require the use of officially certified container seals. Among others the  US Customs Authority (C-TPAT) allow only certified container seals. C-TPAT stands for Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism and is a collaboration between, among others Mexico, Canada and the United States.

There is also a collaboration in the maritime sector, namely the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code, abbreviated to ISPS. The ISPS code was developed by the International Maritime Organization and aims to prevent terrorism in ships and port facilities. Within this code it is mandatory to use an ISO 17712: 2013 certified High Security Seal.

Extra strong steel wire (5 mm) that fray when broken, making reuse impossible

The extra strong steel wire of the Cable Seal 500 consists of a series of braided steel wires. The total diameter is 5.0 mm. The thinner wires that are braided together have a diameter of 1.15 mm. The 1.15 mm wire also consists of stranded wires with a diameter of 0.35 mm.

The robust wire is braided to obtain more grip in the aluminum housing. The braided steel wire also ensures that unauthorized people do not have access to the lock. When the steel wire is cut, the steel wire will fray. For example, it is not possible to reseal the steel wire of the container seal. Reuse is impossible with the Cable Seal 500. This makes the seal extra safe.

Provided with a one-off unique imprint and ascending numbering

High Security Cable Seals must have a unique combination of printing and numbering. These requirements come from the requirements of ISO 17712: 2013. The Cable Seal 500 is supplied from stock with the text “CS500 SEALED” in combination with a unique ascending numbering. Both Navacqs and the manufacturer of the container seal ensure that this unique combination is only produced once.
