Product description Barrier Container Seal

The Barrier Container Seal is one of the most advanced high-end container seals suitable for sealing containers. Thanks to its unique properties, the container seal is provided with the official ISO 17712: 2013 certificate. This means, the seal is automatically approved by customs authorities worldwide, including C-TPAT and ISPS. Fraud is virtually impossible due to a one-off unique print and the well-thought-out design.

The unique properties of the Barrier Container Seal

  • One of the most advanced high-end seals to prevent manipulation
  • Container seal provided with the official ISO 17712: 2013 Certificate
  • Approved by customs authorities worldwide, including C-TPAT (USA)
  • Provides a one-off unique imprint and ascending numbering

Advanced high-end seal to prevent manipulation

Container seals are an essential part of the safe and secure transport of goods in containers. The seal ensures that unauthorized persons cannot gain access to the load. This way fraud, damage and theft can be prevented. The Barrier Container Seal is one of the strongest and most developed container seals available. Information is collected about how it works in practice through transporters and customs authorities. The anti-fraud properties are also tested by customs. With all this information, the design of the container seal is continuously improved.

Anti-spin system

Each container seal consists of two parts, namely a pin and a can. These two parts can be clicked together so that the seal is sealed. The Barrier Container Seal has an anti-spin system. With this, the two parts of the seal cannot be loosened with, for example, a battery toll, which is possible with many other seals.

A second design measure to prevent spinning loss is the design of the click system in the steel housing. The click system is in the form of a barb. This ensures that the seal cannot be spun loose. With lower-quality seals, a ring with a small opening is used, behind which the pin can fall. This method is more susceptible to fraud in contrast to the click system such as the Barrier Container Seal.

As a third measure, the ABS plastic housing ensures a tighter closure. This makes it impossible to access the click system of the seal without visible damage. The plastic also provides extra protection against, among other things, corrosion of the seal.

The container seal has a steel pin with a diameter of 8 mm. At the end of the pen, there is an extra deep groove behind the spherical tip. This groove clicks into the steel bush. This creates a better closure and reopening is not possible without visible damage to the seal.

The canister/head of the seal has a diameter of 22 mm and is also made of steel and ABS plastic. This makes it impossible to knock the seal through the lock of the container. Thanks to the high breaking strength of 1,700 kg, the seal can only be broken with a high-quality Bolt Cutter.

The advice is to seal the seal with the pin-down. This prevents moisture or other liquid from entering the can.

Container seal provided with the official ISO 17712: 2013 Certificate

For the transport of export containers, a container seal with the ISO 17712: 2013 certificate is mandatory. The Barrier Container Seal has been officially tested and approved by an independent third party. Leading company MIRDC has tested and approved the container seal.

The certification process consists of two parts, namely: inspecting the physical product and inspecting the production process of the seal. The seals are checked for several of physical properties. For example, the seal must bear the manufacturer’s name. In addition, the seal must be provided with a unique imprint and ascending numbering. Finally, the seal must bear the letter “H” which stands for High Security. As a result, container seals are also called High-Security Seals.

The seal must also have a series of properties to prevent fraud. First of all, the seal must have an anti-spin system. The seal must also have a minimum breaking strength so that the seal cannot be opened by hand. In addition, both ends must be made of steel and have a minimum width. Thus, the seal cannot be knocked through the latch. The aspects are tested at the MIRDC.

In addition to the certification of the physical product, the entire production process and quality assurance are also considered. After all, every container seal must be perfect and meet the strict requirements of ISO. A seal provided with an ISO17712: 2013 certificate is also called a High-Security Seal.

Approved by customs authorities worldwide, including C-TPAT (USA)

Container seals with the official ISO are mandatory for international transport. Customs authorities all over the world only accept officially certified container seals. Likewise, the US Customs Agency ( C-TPAT) certified container seals only. C-TPAT stands for Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism and is a collaboration between Mexico, Canada and the United States, among others.

In addition, there is a collaboration in the maritime sector, namely the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code, abbreviated to ISPS. This code was developed by the International Maritime Organization and has to prevent terrorism in ships and port facilities. It is also mandatory to use an ISO 17712: 2013 certified High-Security Seal.

Provided with a one-off unique imprint and ascending numbering

Each Barrier Container Seal provides a unique combination of printing and numbering. These requirements come from the requirements of ISO 17712: 2013. The Barrier Container Seal is supplied from stock with the text “BARRIER SEAL” in combination with unique ascending numbering. Both Navacqs and the manufacturer of the seal ensure that this unique combination is only produced once.
