Kiwa SCM Heavy Duty approved Container lock (for transport insurance)

The Cobra Container Lock with SBS PL7000 padlock has the highest achievable KIWA SCM certification, namely the Heavy Duty classification. Various insurance agencies only require container locks with this specific certification. Due to its high build quality, the Cobra container lock ensures a reliable and safe closure of containers and trailers.

The container lock has been developed for long-term use and can withstand extreme weather conditions. To guarantee its long life, it is strongly recommended to clean the SBS PL7000 padlock monthly with a lubricant such as Brunox or WD40. This will thoroughly clean the lock internally.

Kiwa SCM certification

The lock is extensively tested before a container lock receives the certificate. The testing process is performed by the independent KIWA SCM . Since 1993, quality marks have been issued for security products such as container locks and trailer locks. Various interested parties are represented in the Board of Experts, including experts from the security, insurance, and business sectors. The locks are inspected based on Inspection regulation MP03.

Strict practical tests

The container locks are checked and tested on various aspects. First of all, several requirements are set in advance. For example, the keys must provide a unique identifier. A maximum of 3 identical keys may also be supplied per Cobra Container Lock.

The Cobra Container Lock is then subjected to 12 different practice tests. One of the parts is a corrosion test. A dust test and heat test also fall under the strict practical test. The results are measured and assessed in following EU guidelines.

There are various tests in the protocol that are aimed at simulating real-life situations. For example, the lock is first placed under a shower for 15 minutes and then in a freezer at -20 degrees Celsius for 2 hours. The lock must then be open within 60 seconds to pass the inspection. A drop test is also part of the test. The lock makes a free fall from 1 meter onto a concrete surface. This is done 50 times for the individual padlocks and 5 times for the entire product.

Another important aspect to guarantee high quality is the attack test. The Cobra Container Lock with SBS PL-7000 has Heavy Duty certification. This means that the lock can withstand burglary for at least 300 seconds when attempted with a wide range of tools. Battery-powered power tools are also used. The intention is to simulate an attempted burglary realistically.

Includes SBS PL7000 padlock with 2 keys

The Cobra Container Lock comes with an  SBS PL-7000 padlock. This padlock is manufactured to the specifications of the Abloy® PL-358T padlock. The lock body of the shackle is specially designed for this type of padlock. The bright red lock housing protects the PL-7000 padlock, which fits right in here. The securing holes in the silver-coloured bracket are also drilled in such a way that the bracket of the PL-7000 fits exactly through them. There is hardly any space between the parts. It is almost impossible to get to the encapsulated padlock with tools.

Adjustable bracket (230 mm to 460 mm) fits any common sea container

The container lock is suitable for securing sea containers and trailers. The container lock consists of two parts, namely a cast steel bracket and a steel lock housing. The red-coloured lock house is variably adjustable thanks to the many locking holes for the padlock. This makes the Cobra Container Lock adjustable from 240 mm to 460 mm. This way the container lock fits on every common container and trailer.

Key certificate for reordering keys

To guarantee security, keys for Cobra Container Lock can only be delivered via Navacqs. The key certificate must be presented to order additional keys. The certificate is a pass with the key number. It is therefore very important to keep the key certificate in a safe place. No keys can be delivered without a key certificate.

Expandable through alike locks or key plan

The Cobra Container Lock with SBS PL-7000 is supplied from stock with two identical keys. Each padlock has its specific lock. It is also possible to supply locks with keyed alike. The cylinders of the locks are adjusted by the manufacturer so that several container locks can be opened with the same key.

Finally, container locks can also be added to a so-called key plan. In this situation, the individual padlocks have their key, which prevents other padlocks from being opened. Only the master key makes it possible to open all padlocks from the specific key plan. Please contact us via +31 (0) 10-495 0000 or sales@navacqs.com to discuss the possibilities.
