Round slings
A roundsling consists of a continuous core of polyester fibres inside a woven protective cover. The cover protects the load-bearing fibres against cuts, abrasion and UV radiation. Navacqs roundslings comply with EN 1492-2, the European standard for roundslings made of man-made fibres, and are available with a working load limit (WLL) from 1,000 to 10,000 kg. They are suitable for temperatures from -40 to +100 °C. A certificate of conformity is available on request for every roundsling.
Webbing sling or roundsling?
A roundsling is more flexible than a webbing sling and moulds itself to the load. This makes it suited to round, irregular or delicate objects. A webbing sling lies flat and wide against the load, which gives more stability with flat and angular shapes.
Colour code
Roundslings follow the same European colour code as webbing slings. A higher WLL means a wider sling:
Purple: 1,000 kg, 42 mm wide, 0.5 to 10 m
Green: 2,000 kg, 50 mm wide, 0.5 to 10 m
Yellow: 3,000 kg, 55 mm wide, 0.5 to 10 m
Grey: 4,000 kg, 70 mm wide, 1 to 10 m
Red: 5,000 kg, 75 mm wide, 1 to 10 m
Brown: 6,000 kg, 82 mm wide, 2 to 10 m
Blue: 8,000 kg, 95 mm wide, 2 to 10 m
Orange: 10,000 kg, 102 mm wide, 1 to 10 m
On site, the capacity can therefore be recognised by colour and size.
WLL per lifting method
The WLL on the label applies to a straight lift with one sling. In a choke hitch, where the sling is passed through itself around the load, the WLL is 0.8 times that value. When the sling hangs in a basket hitch under the load with both legs vertical, the WLL doubles. For the purple roundsling of 1,000 kg, this means 800 kg in a choke hitch and 2,000 kg in a basket hitch.
Safety factor 7:1
All roundslings have a safety factor of 7:1. The breaking strength is seven times the WLL: 7 t for the purple roundsling and 70 t for the orange one. This reserve covers wear of the cover and uneven distribution of the load. Every lift stays within the WLL.
Custom roundslings
Roundslings can be ordered to size from 2 pieces, in the required working length and in versions with a WLL above 10,000 kg. Custom roundslings also comply with EN 1492-2. Lead time for custom work varies per order and is available on request.
